All I want for Christmas {Tuesday 10}

As a mom, Christmas means one thing.  Gifts for the kids.  You know, getting that one thing they want so badly... Don't even get me started on Anchors Away Lalaloopsie.  That was a momfail!  Anyway, I get asked by my parents and other family members what I want for Christmas.  The idea alludes me... What do I really want, well my first answer would be sleep, and the second answer would be sleep.  Since they can't really bottle that up for me, I've complied a few things that I really, really want,
and wouldn't actually buy myself this time of year.
Because all our money goes to making sure our kids have more toys than are shelved at Toys R Us.
That's the goal right?

My Christmas List

The list is quite simple.
Toms, of course.
A someecards desk calendar..
Slippers that have polka dots!!
A laptop, but not this one exactly...
I'd love a Google Chromebook,
any of you have an opinion on this?
And if you give a girl a laptop, she's going to ask for a case,
with a typewriter on it,
and then she's gonna die because it's so amazing.
The Harry Potter movie box set is a no brainer,
if you have about 500 bucks lying around.
The Hello Kitty hobo bag is a given.
Jeggings are always on my list.
A Hello Kitty robe is just icing on the cake.
A sweatshirt with a classic line from a classic movie?
Boom.

Dear Hubbs,
I know you read my blog from time to time.
This isn't a joke list.
This is the real deal.
Tell Santa I was good.
Even if I didn't vaccuum the chips in the carpet.
XOXO

I'm co-hosting with Lena for Tuesday 10
Link up your own Christmas list, or 10 of whats on your mind!

You should know... {Pet Peeves Edition}

Thanks for reading my blog today.
If you are new here, then congrats, you are in for a treat.
I'm sharing some things that have pissed me off lately.
Let's call them pet peeves.

When someone reads my magazine before me.
I don't do this to others.
Magazines are sacred.

Self portraits.
Self indulgent much?
I'm one of the offenders.
I hate myself for posting.

Cats that puke all over the house when the Hubbs is at work.

Mean girls, aged 6.
Yeah, you are so cool in your tutu and bun.
But you've hit your peak,
or you will.
Would you like a package of bottled blonde now, or in 10 years?

Cancer.
This is more of an overall hate.
You steal some of the best people on earth.

Hard boiled eggs that won't peel.

People that will tell me how to boil an egg correctly in the comments.
This is your warning.

Political Debates that push my favorite shows.
Greys Anatomy and Scandal would have been much more entertaining.

The political comments that will follow the above.

Passive aggressive statuses on Facebook.
I get it you are mad, and I'm pretty sure the person you directed
your status at knows too.

I'm not the only one with some pet peeves.
Meet Jennifer from My Not So Glamorous Life!

My {Not So} Glamorous Life
"Real Life, Real Kids, Real Messes, Real Mommy. REAL LOVE.That's My Not So Glamorous Life! "

Pet Peeves. We all have them. Those terrible little nuances that just simply drive us batty.

Today I will share mine with you. In no particular order, here are ten of my biggest pet peeves:

~Open Cabinet/Cupboard doors. (Seriously, is it that hard to shut it?!)

~Chewing gum loudly. Enough said.

~Rude customer service. I try to be kind and cheerful as a customer, and I expect it in return.

~Lack of good planning. Yes, we all do it sometimes. I'm certainly guilty of it. But there are those among us who make it routine to just wing it. Which would be fine and dandy, if they didn't make others pick up the slack. Not cool.

~Excessive channel surfing (I'm looking at my husband on this one...)

~The word "retard". Not okay.

~Being late. (Especially when I'm the one who's not on time. Ugh, I could just kick myself!)

~Toilet paper being hung "under" instead of "over".

~People who borrow an item, and return it in poor condition.

~ When someone doesn't RSVP to an event invitation

********************
 Thanks Jennifer!
Be sure to check out her bloggy, and tell her I sent ya!

What's eating you lately?
Share your pet peeves with Lena.

Linking up with my gal Lena!
Did you see her name change?

You wouldn't believe me...

Imagine being able to go back.
Back to when you thought you had it all figured out.
When the world was your oyster.
The point in time where you were no longer a "young" adult, but an actual adult.
Working.
Paying Bills.
With no summers off.
What would you say to that person?
That person who is now ten years older, somewhat wiser, but still a work in progress.
I have a few ideas.

In 10 years, none of this will matter.
Not the booze.
Not the cigarettes.
Not the "friends" at work.
That nasty boss of yours?
She's pretty tame to the one you will have four years from now.
Be ready.

In 10 years your friendships will change.
Some for the better.
Some for the worst.
You will hurt, and they will be hurt.
Just try to take it in stride.

Right now, you think you know exactly what you want.
Exactly who you want to be.
Exactly who you want to become.
Get ready to have that notion rocked.

In 10 years this back and forth dating with this guy will be laughable.
No, it will seriously be dinner conversation among friends,
and everyone including you will be laughing.
It will seem so silly and unimportant.
The most important thing will be that he finally agreed to marry you.

Someday soon, you will be in Target and witness a toddler of terror.
You will roll your eyes and give their mother a death stare.
Watch yourself.
10 years later you will pay an obscene amount of money for a toy
that will enable you to buy toilet paper and tampons in silence.
No, this isn't a joke.

In 10 years you will no longer care about those 10 extra pounds.
You will leave the house without make up.
You will grocery shop un-showered and in last nights pajamas.
And, it won't bother you one bit.

In 10 years you will know that marriage is a job.
That there is a serious level of work that goes into it being successful.
Right now it seems so romantic and very much like a fairytale.
You have to build your happily ever after.
It's totally worth it.

In 10 years you will have come back from the brink.
The hardest job you never wanted will now be your first choice.
Everything has been challenged.
Your thinking.
Your beliefs.
Your self worth.
But in the end something magical happens.
They call you mom.

In 10 years you finally do something you really want.
Write.
For yourself.
For others, at times.
You realize you have a story to tell.
And you will.
But, don't start earlier, because you aren't ready.
And even though you feel like you squandered time,
you didn't.
It takes time to get here.

In 10 years you will be living a life you didn't know you wanted.
Wife.
Mother.
Writer.
You never set out to be these things.
You didn't know if it was possible.
I'm here to tell you it is.

You wouldn't believe me if I told you, but your best is yet to come.
Have fun being 24.
Party.
Drink.
Smoke (occasionally).
Enjoy it.
Although, you won't miss your 24 year old life one bit.
Promise.

Football Wife Fashion {Tuesday 10}

Saturday is the first home game for Fresno State.  If you know me in real life, then you know that my Husband pulls out all the stops for Fresno State Football.  Tailgates, games, beer, BBQ, and absolutely no "booing" the home team.  I've been known to do that a time or two.  My bad.

When Lena invited me to co-host Tuesday 10, I suggested we talk about our personal must haves for fall.  Mine are centered around Fresno State Football, and more importantly the weather that will be nothing like fall until November.  I swear, it's going to be in the 90s until Halloween.  Every year, never fails.

I've picked the following items based on my brand new pair of red Toms.  That's right the hubby sprung for a new pair in his favorite color Bulldog Red.  It's to motivate me and guilt me into attending more than one home game this year.  How can I refuse with brand new Toms?  I picked pieces that will be awesome on Game Day, especially when the weather gets cooler.  I also picked pieces that will make me look like a very casual, polished, and preppy SAHM.  A win win RIGHT?

Game Day

I promise I'll revise my must haves when it's not 100 degrees outside and I can look at my brown boots and jeans without breaking a sweat!  And I think I'm going have to promise my hubby that I will attend 4 home games plus tailgates because I seriously need those boyfriend jeans above in my life.  I'm currently without boyfriend jeans.  Sad.

Tell us what your top 10 fashion must haves for fall, then link up!  Or if you are sweating like me and can't even begin to think about wool sweaters, link up 10 of anything.

A big thanks to Lena for letting me tag along.

Some end of Summer Reading {Tuesday10}

So I have decided to take the next week or so off.  Away from the blog.  I may or may not post a few things about my sponosors, but any and all original content is on hold for the time being.

You see, my oldest starts kindergarten on Monday.  So I want to focus on the last few days of summer.  This summer before everything changes.  The last few days to savor the over 100 degree temps, the late nights out in the front yard, the ice cream cones for dinner.  I want to focus on last minute back to school shopping, swimming at grandmas, and anything and everything Summer.

Until then, I'm giving you some good end of summer reading.  Today's Tuesday 10 prompt is your
10 Favorite Blog Posts.  I've tried to compile a list of favorites including some from 2011 that you may have never read before.  Just to keep your attention until I get back.  Some are funny.  Some are serious, but I promise, as always they are all me!

Enjoy, and say a prayer for our first day of Kindergarten!!

Sleepless Delirium {Tues10} {Pinning}

Here's the deal.  Mac has been sick.  What started with Caitlin and a low grade fever, turned into Mac puking from midnight to four am on Monday morn.  So on little sleep, and no caffeine (had to quit it back in Feb.), I've been parked on my couch watching the world go by via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.  Alas, I believe the bug has now hit me... So I'm most likely going to be MIA for the next few days... Apologies.

Here's what's been happening:

Me and sick Mac on the couch.
Chillin' to Disney Jr and Nick Jr.
Thank God, for 24 hour toddler programming!

New. Favorite. Show.
Seriously.
It's raunchy and hilarious.
Two of my favorite things.
Both that I aspire to be...LOL

Also since I couldn't resist today's Tuesday 10 is the 90s.
It's just begging to be posted about.
Here are my favorites of the 90s

Mom2MemphisandRuby

One
Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic.
My first ever CD.
That's right, there once was a time when there were no CDs.
In a galaxy far far away without Internet.
Yeah, I'm that old.
On the plus side.
This CD is legit!

Two
Holden.
My first crush.
Seriously.
Damaged + Prepschool = Amazing.

Three
My favorite movie of the 90s.
Saw it like 6 times in the theatre.
Not sure how since I was just 17.
But this forever changed me.
It also taught me valuable lessons.
Like a "royale with cheese", never to say "what" again,
and if in doubt call the "Wolf".

Four
The best magazine of my generation.
For reals.
If you never read an issue I'm truly sorry.
There is nothing today as empowering as Sassy was back then.
Plus, it pretty much solidified that I had to be come a writer.
(I'm still working on that)

Five
First I met these guys.
Nirvana changed everything.
Including how music made me feel.
How music could change my moods.

Six
Then I met these guys.
And fell in love.
They wrote the best love songs and break up songs.
Mark Hoppus, 2nd crush.

Seven
Favorite TV show of the 90s.
I wanted to be Angela Chase.
3rd Crush, Jordan Catalano.
Also they show repeats on IFC!

Eight
This was how I wanted to dress freshman and sophomore year.
Grunge was what it was all about.
And I wanted a piece of that pie.
I bought a pair of Doc's with my birthday money the year I turned 15.
My mom still has them packed away.

Nine
Then this is how I finished my high school career.
Dressed like Gwen Stefani.
She was my style Guru for most of the late 90s.
Dickies, cut off wife beaters, crazy furs.
I was "just a girl".

Ten
This is who I wanted to be when I grew up in the 90s.
Janeane Garofalo.
She was a writer and an actress.
And she was hilarious.
Black hair, bangs, red lips.
Who am I kidding?
I still want to be her!!

All of these pictures can be found here on my "likes" page.
Since I'm short on time, I thought you could just reference them here.
I'm not trying to steal them or take credit for them.

And since we are on the subject of Pinterest.  Have you ever linked up at A Night Owl Blog?  Well she is one of my fancy June sponsors, and I've been wanting to link up to her Pinning party forever!

So since the majority of what was featured in my 90's post was from Pinterest,
done and done right?
Wrong!
Here are my newest pins.
Pinned around 3 am on Monday when Mac was in between sleep and puking.

I hope that this bug/flu doesn't take over and ruin Father's day!

The Soundtrack of my Life {Tuesday 10}

Pinned Image
Pinterest source: Cydnee Squire / http://morbibo.tumblr.com/post/5905668952

I love music.  I'm the girl that has a situation for every song.  My dad taught me my love of music at an early age with The Beatles and Hendrix on vinyl.  I have always loved music, it's stories and feelings.  I also like to sing my favorites at the top of my lungs, but I'm so tone deaf it hurts my ears!!

Today's Tuesday 10 is the soundtrack of our lives.  Now this list would be so long, it would take a hundred blogs, but here are the ones that immediately came into my mind.  No particular order either.

What's My Age Again - Blink 182
Ok, really all Blink 182 songs.  They are truly the soundtrack of my life.  From highschool to college and after.  This song inparticular reminds me of my summer before my last year in college.  A break up I thought would break me, and the night I met my husband.  That's right.  This song reminds me of that crazy, wild summer of boys, booze, and new dreams.

Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight and the Pips
I have a serious love for this song.  I still to this day don't know why.  I just feel like it's a crazy love song to a man who's leavin', and Glady's ain't having it.  She rather "live in his world, than live without him in mine".  Amen sister!  Plus check the video, the Pips got it going on!  Those dance moves, and look at girlfriends hair!  I'm smitten!

Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis Presley
This is my first dance song friends.  It was inspired by the movie "Fools Rush In".  And also because no matter what I did, or what John did I could not help falling in love with him.  One of my favorites, and ladies it's the KING!

Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
Yeah, this song reminds me of when we got MTV.  I was little, like kindergarten.  But I can't hear this song and not think about the revolutionary idea that was MTV.  Because at five I wanted Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake, and my MTV.

Cameage - The Descendents
You may not know who they are, but this song got me through a break up a time or two.  It's a love song, hidden in some punk rock.  The Descendents define my last year in high school.  I can't hear these songs without thinking of my friends, trips to Santa Cruz, and some punk concerts on school nights.

Tiny Dancer - Elton John
When I was preggo with Caitlin, before we knew she was a girl, I heard this song and just knew.  I knew with all my heart that I would be having my own "tiny dancer".  I'm sure there is a seedy dark side to this song, but not when I hear it.  I smile and sing it loud, because I have my own tiny dancer!!

I am the Walrus - The Beatles
My favorite Beatles song.  Period.  At my wedding I danced with my dad to "All You Need Is Love", because you can't really dance to I am the Walrus.

Big Girls Don't Cry - Fergie
I wrote a whole post about this one.  This is the song that I sang everyday for a year, in my head.  The song is really about crystal meth, but to me it told my story of how my stuggle through motherhood was about me and not my baby.  The song lives out, what I knew I would never do.  But I thougth about it.  Because in the end it had nothing to do with her, and everything to do with me.

She - Green Day
The first time I felt like a band wrote a song just for me.  To say that the 16 year old in me identified with this song is a vicious understatement.  Green Day was the first of many bands to write songs just for me and my crazy adolescence.  And I thank them every day for it.

Without You - Glee's Rachel Berry's version
Hear me out.  Rachel Berry can sing a ballad like no other.  This is the great love song of my life.  This song is my marriage set to music.  "I won't run, I won't fly, I won't make ever make it by without you".  The entire song is about someone who can't be who they are, won't be their completed self without the other person.  No matter the mood, the fight, the issue, this is how I feel about John.  Set to music.

So that's just a taste of the soundtrack of my life.  I'm thinking I could also write this post by band.  Like the soundtrack of my life Blink 182 or the soundtrack of my life Red Hot Chili Peppers!  What did you think?  Any surprises?  What are the songs on your soundtrack?

Linking up with my favorite!
Tuesday 10
join the fun!!
